Jieshan Qiu, Cheung-Kong Distinguished Professor of Carbon Science and Chemical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China. His research encompasses both fundamental and applied aspects of carbon materials and science, with a focus on the methodologies of producing carbon materials for energy storage and conversion, catalysis, and environment protection. He has published 970+ papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Mater., Adv. Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Energy Environ. Sci., PNAS, Nature Commun., ACS Nano, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Joule, Matter, Chem, etc., with citations 69600+ times and h-index of 131 (google scholar), and his work has been featured on 70 covers of international journals. He has been invited to give 170+ plenary/invited/keynote talks in conferences and at universities and research institutes. He has filed 170+ Chinese and International patents. He has been honored with 30+ prestigious awards and prizes including the First-class award for fundamental research and industrialization technologies from the Education Ministry of China and Liaoning Province. He is a highly cited researcher by Clarivate Analytics from 2018 to 2023 and by Elsevier from 2019 to 2023 in the field of chemical engineering science. During his career, Dr Pascal Puech initially focused on the study of bulk semiconductors before extending his research to carbon nanotubes and then to all forms of carbon materials at the CEMES/CNRS laboratory in France where he became the leader of the Multiscale Mutilfunctional Materials Group. Since his PhD, he has been an expert in Raman spectroscopy and has continuously broadened his expertise to other techniques aiming at always going deeper in the understanding of the structure, behaviour, and properties of carbon materials of any kind. His research covers topics ranging from fundamental studies, such as graphene-based sensors, to applied physics, including recovered carbon blacks. He has collaborated with Intel, BASF, Arkema, Airbus and many smaller industries. He has more than 20 years of experience in carbon materials science and is a member of several carbon-related learned societies, including the Scientific Board of the French Carbon Society (SFEC). He has taught optics at all levels in several universities and in summer schools. Dr Pascal Puech has authored and co-authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications.
